About Us

Credo

The School

  • as educational institution, is conscious of its calling to educate future citizens of our country;
  • at all times respects the convictions of both parents and learners in regard to religious education and religious ceremonies.

The School and the Learner

  • accepts that education has a broad national character that must be cultivated through the conscious expansion of every pupil’s knowledge of the country, its language and cultural heritage, history, traditions and national symbols;
  • accepts character development as part of the task of education and promotes the highest moral standards by word and example;
  • undertakes as its professional responsibility the guidance of each learner in the pursuit of knowledge and skills and in the development of his full potential so that he may become a responsible citizen of a democratic country;
  • recognises the individuality of every learner, respects his personality, fosters a healthy environment for education and learning, exercises authority with compassion and refrains from words or actions which are destructive or negative;
  • respects the right of every learner to have confidential information about himself withheld at all times except where required by authorised agencies or by law.

The School and the Parents

  • endeavours to maintain friendly co-operation with the parents of learners in its care; and
  • does everything possible to uphold parental authority, to promote the pupil’s confidence in his own home, and to keep parents adequately informed about the progress of their child.

The School and the Community

  • accepts the principle that an educational institution serves the community and respects the customs and codes of the community as far as this is educationally justifiable;
  • accepts its responsibility with regard to the development of healthy attitudes to and the advancement of education, as well as its involvement in civic and community affairs.

School Song

Proud  Orange and Blue are the colours we bear

Each in its circle complete;

Each circle a language, yet inter-linked

For here we mingle and meet

So  saam staan hier in die Sunridge-skool

Om ʼn enkel tradisie te bou,

Kom saamstaan in spel, in studie en gees

Om Suid-Afrika hoog te hou.

Our Vision

At Sunridge:

We develop your child to reach his/her full potential. The basis of education is value driven and we teach our children to accept responsibility for their talents and rights. We guide the learners by means of quality education and a structured environment.

By means of education in the mother tongue we endeavour to prepare the learners mentally and to develop his/her skills in order to cope with the demands of our time.

We have quality educators and sufficient facilities at our disposal to help learners reach their full potential. In this regard we are a vital part of the education team, in cooperation with our parents.

Our Mission

The School under guidance and leadership of the Governing Body and Parent-Staff body seeks to:

Create a secure environment where acceptable norms, values and ethics are nurtured and upheld.

Create and maintain effective management structures and processes to provide opportunities for the highest quality of education.

Educate the child in totality to become a well-balanced and self-disciplined individual in a changing social-economic environment.

Create an awareness of accountability, mutual respect and pride in the school, striving towards a positive image.

Foster an interactive partnership between all stakeholders concerned.
